Why weight loss is important to me
What is your why?
When it comes to health especially in terms of weight loss, there tends to be a lot of focus and pressure on WHAT to do (and people’s opinions of if what you’re doing is right or wrong). Considering my past I also know HOW to lose weight. However, I have been trying to come to terms for the reasons WHY I want to lose weight.
The question is a lot harder for me to answer than you may assume. My motivation is probably routed in things that most don’t want to admit. I want look great and enjoy life! Overall, having lower body fat and lower waist circumference reduces your risk for many obesity related symptoms and possibly can lead to a longer life. I think it is important to identify why I want to lose weight because it will help with clarifying my purpose in this journey and will inspire me to take action that I can maintain.
For me, there are a few things…
I’d like to be a smaller size so that I can be more comfortable in clothes I like. I like to wear skirts and dresses and I’d rather not have people tell me I can’t show my body.
I’d like to be able to ride roller coasters so that I can enjoy some of the thrills in life. A few years ago, I went to an amusement park and even though I was a smaller pant size than I am now… I couldn’t get on all the rides I wanted and this was very embarrassing.
I want to look as good as I feel. Personally, I feel attractive but unfortunately, society isn’t very nice to women in my situation.
I want to get to a point where I am not constantly worried about what I eat so that I can enjoy life.
I hope to eventually do a full Ironman and complete 2 things off my bucket list at once. A triathlon and surfing in Hawaii!
Getting my thoughts out lately has been very difficult and I hope this quick message has resonated with you. One of my daily reminders has been to take things one day at a time so that I can be more kind to myself. <3
